As coming back to your car, and the cars parked next to you are the same ones as when you pulled in.

I am weird for taking pictures of license plates incase of damage done to my car? Am I alone in doing this ?

I do it, especially parallel parking. I make sure I can read their plate and see my car in the photos clearly.

I’ve definitely thought, “this guy is gunna have a hard time getting out.” Never took a picture of their plates though. I maybe should have a few weeks ago when I parked next to a poorly parked new dark blue Corolla. Sure enough I cam back to a little blue scuff on my car.

What was cool was last night at work when I parked next to my coworker who has a silver 2nd generation mini cooper. At about 10 a man parked next to him with a 3rd generation Cooper S. Tried to get a family photo of all 3 generations of Coopers parked together but my phone wouldn’t work in the dark.

I do that at the movies because the parking lot is a piece of shit.

My friends call it weird, I call it reassuring.

I’ll definitely park next to family/rival cars. For example, I may go out of my way to park my 1992 Grand Marquis next to other early 90s cars, other Mercuries, other panthers, or a Caprice/Roadmaster etc. The other day I was driving my 1972 Cutlass Supreme to a show and was behind a newer Aurora and wondered when was the last time I’ve seen 2 Oldsmobiles together on the road.

It’s piece of mind you can always delete it later, I do it a lot, not as much as when I had the challengers cause they dented so easy. But I would say easily once a week I do it

I don’t know what it is but I have seen more and more Minis around since I got mine. I tend to give other Minis I see a quick wave as they pass.

Yup, I’ve only done it three or four times. Only in super tight parking spots.

One time when I was driving the family bitch car like this one pictured... I came across a lady in an identical one. I beeped and gave her a thumbs up. She gave me a “WTF is your problem” kinda look. Proof that Hyundai Tucson drivers are completely oblivious to or in denial of the fact that they drive a Hyundai Tucson.

Appliance cars. They genuinely don’t give a shit about the car they drive as long as it gets them to work.

I do it especially when I park behind/in front of cars that seem like their owners don't care about the car, my car, their own lives etc. My neighbor parked behind a pick up last year and came back to his grill broken and hood dented in the middle and had no way to track the guy down.
